Van Stephenson Memorial Cancer Research Fund
In early 1999, BlackHawk founding member Van Stephenson was diagnosed with melanoma, the most severe form of skin cancer. Van’s dying wish to Henry Paul and Dave Robbins was two fold. Continue to tour, because there’s a lot of great music left in BlackHawk, and do all you can to help find a cure for cancer.
Since Van’s death on April 8, 2001, BlackHawk and fans have raised over half a million dollars for cancer research at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Two decades later, BlackHawk is still touring and raising money in Van’s honor to help find a cure!
